    The school family of St. Mary Elementary and Junior High School of Dixon, Illinois affirm the following: the Gospel message, mutual compassion, understanding, respect, and responsibility to our faith community while experiencing a Catholic education community.     Philosophy

    The philosophy of this school is to lead the students to reach their true potential – spiritually, academically, socially and physically.

  • Preschool Plus Program

    After surveying our community, it was evident there was much interest in having an all day preschool program. We have moved classrooms, painted, purchased new equipment, and hired two excellent teachers.

    St. Mary School now offers a program beyond the norm for Preschool children who are enrolled in morning or afternoon classes. Our Preschool Plus program will allow students in pre 3, pre 4, and pre k to remain in school all day.

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! We hope you had a restful and relaxing summer. Our teachers have been busy preparing their classrooms and lesson plans that promise to make for an exceptional educational experience for your student.

St. Mary School takes pride in student achievement and continues to have a wonderful spirit of learning. We are strongly committed to maintaining a positive educational climate; one that is indicative of the Christian values we teach.

    St. Mary School has always had a strong emphasis on the visual and performing arts. Rather than traveling to Chicago or the suburbs, we want to pass along an opportunity to enjoy the arts right here within our community

Mrs. Dawn Frankfother

Mrs. Dawn Frankfother

Mrs. Dawn Frankfother is our new kindergarten teacher. She received her teaching degree from Missouri State University. Dawn has taught adult education, youth at risk, and 14 years of preschool. Dawn and her husband, Mark, have been married for 30 years. They have a daughter who lives in Madison, Wisconsin, and a son at home who works at Sauk Valley Community College. They also have a 17 year old dachshund named Lucky. The Frankfother's recently moved to Polo and are enjoying renovating an old farmhouse.

Dawn's favorite quote from an early childhood author: “I promise you every day your child will learn something. Some days they will bring it home in their hands. Some days they will bring it home in their heads, and some days they will bring it home in their hearts. “
